OpenVPX Module Uses Freescale Eight-Core P4080 Processor

A high-performance 3U OpenVPX single board computer is based on the Freescale QorIQ P4080 processor. The XPedite5470 from Extreme Engineering Solutions delivers enhanced Power Architecture performance and power efficiency for today’s customers who require high performance in small form factors. XPedite5470 provides Power Architecture computing with features including the Freescale P4080 processor with eight Power Architecture e500 cores running at up to 1.5 GHz, 8 Gbyte DDR3-1333 ECC SDRAM in two channels and 256 Mbyte NOR and 16 Gbyte NAND flash including hardware write-protection for NVRAM. I/O includes Serial RapidIO, x4 PCI Express and SerDes Gigabit Ethernet interconnects plus Ethernet and serial ports.

X-ES is committed to delivering Freescale Semiconductor’s QorIQ P4080 in five additional unique form factors: 3U CompactPCI, PMC/XMC, VME, 6U VPX and 6U CompactPCI, covering the entire embedded product market. To satisfy the widest range of customer applications, from telecommunications to MIL-STD 810F military requirements, all of X-ES’s P4080 products are engineered to scale from air-cooled commercial (0 to 55ºC) to full conduction-cooled (-40° to +85ºC) with appropriate shock and vibration testing. Linux, Wind River VxWorks, QNX Neutrino and Green Hills INTEGRITY Board Support Packages (BSPs) are available.
